FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do you fly with your bike?
To fly with your bike, you'll need a bike bag, a hard case, or a cardboard box. Do check airline policies on bicycles as luggage. Scicon offers options like the Aerocomfort, which usually checks in as normal luggage. Choose a solution that requires minimal disassembly, easy packing, and transportation.
IS IT WORTH BUYING A BIKE TRAVEL BAG FOR JUST A FEW TRIPS?
Different travel cases have various placements for the wheels. Some have compartments or slots on the sides, while others have separate bags for the wheels. An ideal option is Scicon’s Aerotech, which has a dedicated space to fix the wheel to prevent movement and damage to the case's contents.
WHAT MAKES THE PERFECT BIKE BAG?
Yes, they are! Travelling abroad with your own bike can save you the hassle and cost of renting one. Use bike bags or cases like Scicon's to pack your bike without removing too many parts, keeping the fit and performance of your bike. These bags also provide protection against theft and damage.
WHAT SHOULD I KNOW BEFORE BUYING A BIKE TRAVEL BAG?
To keep your bike safe, pack it in a suitable bike bag or case and bring the necessary tools and accessories. Research transportation options and find the best bag solution for you. Companies such as Scicon make a variety of bike bags specifically designed for all travel.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I SPEND ON A BIKE TRAVEL BAG?
Carefully evaluating the cost and value for money of a bike bag is essential. A high-quality bag provides adequate protection, preventing expensive damage to your bike during transport. Investing in a sturdy bag is especially important for high-end bicycles, as repair or replacement costs can far exceed the price of the bag itself. Always choose a bike bag that offers excellent after-sales support and a wide range of replacement parts. Bags are often mishandled during travel, and after a few trips, they may suffer damage or lose some components. Opting for a quality solution will ensure long-term peace of mind and protection.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY BAG ARRIVES DAMAGED AT THE AIRPORT?
Before departure, at home, take clear photos of your fully packed bag with your bike visible inside, ensuring it is properly packed. Upon arrival, immediately inspect your bag in the baggage claim area at the airport. If you notice any damage to the bag or your bike, file a claim with the airline at the lost & found office in the transit area before leaving the airport. Document the damage carefully by taking detailed photos. Contact Scicon Sports support by submitting a claim online (click here) and include the following: the Property Irregularity Report (PIR) issued by the airline, your passenger and flight details, and a description of the issue. We will provide you with an estimate, which you can forward to the airline for reimbursement.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY BIKE GETS DAMAGED DURING AIR TRAVEL?
If your bike is damaged during air travel, immediately report the damage to the airline's baggage service desk upon arrival. Document the issue with photos and retain all relevant receipts and documentation. Many airlines offer compensation for damages, but claims often need to be filed within a specific timeframe. Scicon Sports is not liable for any damage caused by improper use or mishandling by airport staff or courier service.
IS THERE A BAG THAT CAN TRANSPORT ANY TYPE OF BIKE?
The market offers a wide variety of bicycles: road bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, track bikes, cyclocross bikes, and tandems. Each model has different frame dimensions and geometries, making it challenging to design a bag that can transport and protect all types of bikes. On the Scicon Sports website, each bike bag comes with a detailed technical sheet containing information about dimensions and features. Before making a purchase, always check that your bike is compatible with the chosen bag to avoid mistakes and ensure optimal protection during transport.
