About Scicon Sport

Scicon Sports was founded in 1980 in a garage near Bassano del Grappa, Italy - the cradle of the cycling industry - with a simple mission: solve the problem of how professional cyclists could travel with their bikes.

Over the years, Scicon Sports has been trusted by some of the greatest cyclists in history, including Moser, Cipollini, Pantani, Indurain, Bettini, Boonen, Froome, Contador, Nibali, Sagan, and Pogačar. Today, Scicon Sports not only solves problems but truly inspires journeys and adventures for cyclists of all levels around the world.

In 2011, the ASG Group became the main shareholder in the company, driving the brand’s global expansion. 8 Years later, in 2019, Scicon Sports entered the sports eyewear market and quickly became a favourite among cycling champions and enthusiasts. In just over 4 years, Scicon Sports sunglasses won the 2020, 2021 and 2024 Tour de France with Tadej Pogačar, the European championships, and over 500 other World Tour races. More recently, Pogačar, wearing Scicon Sports eyewear, dominated the 2024 edition of the Giro d’Italia, adding the overall winner’s pink jersey to his incredible list of accomplishments.

No fewer than five different World Tour teams on the UCI’s men’s and women’s circuit have used Scicon Sports Eyewear, including UAE Team Emirates, NTT Pro Cycling Team, Israel Cycling Academy, Team Astana, and Team Bike Exchange Jayco.

Further entrenching its reputation in the cycling world, Scicon Sports announced a three-year official product deal with the Tour de France for its bike bags and a collection of limited edition travel bags and accessories.

With locations in over 40 countries worldwide, including the USA, Canada, South Africa, and Australia, and a state-of-the-art concept lab in Italy, Scicon Sports continues to innovate in its quest to create the world’s leading cycling performance eyewear brand while entrenching its position as the benchmark in bike transportation solutions.

1980

THE EARLY YEARS

Every great story has a beginning. This one started in a small town near Bassano Del Grappa, Italy. Starting from a small garage, Luciano & Claudio Fantin registered SCICON in 1980 and embarked on the mission to design and manufacture equipment for a cyclist to transport their bicycles by plane.

1982

THE BIRTH OF BIKE PACKING

SCICON becomes the first to manufacture and present bicycle touring bags that are fixed on a bike's luggage racks as well as on the handlebars, designed for adventuring and bike-specific travel.

1984

THE MARVEL OF MEXICO

Developed together with Francesco Moser, SCICON presents the first Aerocomfort road bike travel bag, to transport his bike to Mexico City for his world hour record attempt. Francesco Moser breaks the world hour record with 51,151km/h.

1985

In the field

SCICON recognized early on that to be successful it needed to earn the trust of world-class athletes through the decades. Producing innovative products that make athletes perform better is important, but SCICON's secret to success had an additional ingredient: we meet with athletes at races, listen carefully to their feedback, and constantly monitor what can be improved or even invented to support their needs. The World's best athletes trusted SCICON and its founders from the very beginning, an aspect that will not change throughout the decades to come.

1989

A world first

SCICON exhibits a new innovation at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy. Proudly presenting the world's first hard-sided bike travel case for road bikes, designed meticulously around the geometry of road bikes and fitted with special wheel compartments for total travel safety.

1992

Endless innovation

SCICON continues to push the boundaries of innovation as it presents a revolutionary bracket system that connects saddlebags directly with the saddle and eliminates the need for traditional straps.

2001

The re-birth of an icon

SCICON presents an update of the legendary Aerocomfort bike travel bag and grows the range of bike travel bags and accessories to over 30 items. Expanding its portfolio to cover the needs of all types of athletes who use a bike, by adding bags and accessories for road cycling, triathlon, and MTB to the collection.

2005

Often copied never reached

SCICON presents the new Aerotech Evolution bike travel case. The original design from 1989 received a complete overhaul as SCICON presented the lightest, most robust, and practical bike travel case on the market with a mere 11kg in weight. In the face of a revolution in the bike travel industry SCICON patents the silhouette of the product and although the design was often copied, the recipe for the unique ABS material, used to make the case one of the lightest and most robust in the market, remains a tight-lipped company secret.
